Antique Victorian 19th C 2 Pc Brown Silk Bustle Gown


This bustle gown dates to the Victorian 19th C and is 2 piece in its construction. The bodice is fully lined in polished cotton, the sleeves have a puff fullness at the shoulder with a fitted sleeve and its bottom in box pleating. Fine pleats are atop the stomach panel which rises to a puff fullness over the chest with a collar on either side of the neckline. The tail is cut in long rectangular fashion with a vented split in the center. The skirting is in matching fabric with its bottom in two ruffled rows. The skirting has faint but present grease soiled spotting with a hand sized area that is slightly darker on the right high side. The waistline has some small frays beginning at the very edge. Small grease point staining is also seen through the bodice, the underside right wrist has several small points of fray, darkened staining is seen on each underarm and the buttons on the tail were fully removed. The interior has a taped mend to the lining that I have not removed with some additional staining seen on the interior lining only. The piece remains strong and fully wearable, measures 32 inches around the bust, 24 inches around the waist, bodice measures 25 inches in the length of the rear with the skirt measuring 40 inches in its length and 24 inches around the waist.
