This is a gorgeous Victorian silk spoon bonnet from the 1850 - 1860s and was possibly a wedding bonnet.
It is wire construction with silk and lace over the frame. The bonnet may have been white but has since aged to a light cream.
It is decorated with fabric flowers and green fabric leaves - which I am not sure if they are original to the bonnet.
The silk has shattered in some places mostly on the very back and the edge of the brim.
The bonnet measures:
head opening...22 around"
crown ( from brim to back)....5 1/2"
crown top...4 x 4"
brim...1 1/2"
