antique VICTORIAN VELVET Watercolor SILK BUSTLE SKIRT Cabbage Roses GORGEOUS +

An extraordinarily beautiful (I think) antique Victorian bustle skirt, fine construction & attention to details, the fabric is to die for.  Front panel of rich deep wine red velvet having a box pleated short ruffle at the hem paired with a gorgeous watercolor silk having a Victorian cabbage rose pattern.  Gobs of this watercolor silk in this skirt, the full bustle & sides, oh it's so pretty.  Fully lined in silks of various finishes & a fine linen (I think).  Lining has a double row of pleated lace trimmed cotton or linen flounces at the bottom which runs about 3/4 around the skirt bottom.  Bustle back is lined in the rich satin silk.  THERE IS A VELVET BELT which I neglected to show on the mannequin, it is a wide velvet belt with bow details-see pics.

Just to be clear, I am calling this a watercolor silk, it is not corded or grosgrain - it is a smooth satin silk and the roses have the look of a watercolor in effect.

In addition to this fabulous gown skirt there is the matching top-which has been deconstructed-see pics-I think all of the pieces are here though if you choose to sew it back together, can't be positive but all the major pieces seem to be present.  

Skirt is in beautiful gently used condition.  Well cared for & stored for over a century.  No musty smell.  From a New York City wealthy family, which at some generation moved to Illinois. 

Some surface soiling on the silk lining where it drags the floor (particularly in back at bustle), not bad at all & age appropriate.  Some light spots here & there on the roses watercolor silk but just not seen unless you are searching through the profuse amt. of silk.  It's a beauty really.  Silk & velvet fabric appears to be strong & sound.  No holes or tears on skirt that I can see.  If there are any they are small & hiding.

Blouse is as is,  taken apart, some wear, missing buttons, but likely usable if you are handy with a needle.  Very small size of course-which is probably why it was taken apart.

Skirt waist approx. 22-22-1/2", length at center front approx. 46".  Belt approx. 23" x 3-5/8".

There is not a bustle form under the skirt in pics,  I just poufed it to give you an idea of the bustle.

I hate to say it, because the skirt is in such beautiful condition, but there is so much gorgeous Victorian fabric here for spectacular pillows etc.
