Antique Victorian Signed Kashmir Hand Woven Embroidered Pieced Paisley Shawl

This opulent Victorian era antique signed Kashmir hand woven embroidered pieced paisley shawl dates from the early 19th century. It is made of a soft fine pashmina goats fleece wool, hand stitched, embroidered, loomed, woven with colorful natural dyed wool done in strong vivid vibrant colors. This stunning shawl has exquisite workmanship and detail with hand embroidered, pieced together by hand, patchwork style small pieces, with an Indian paisley design. There is a very small black wool square center, which is signed in white thread stitching (see close-up). There is a colorful embroidered fringed decorative border edging surrounding the shawl. These paisley shawls were made in Kashmir, Persia and India. They were very popular during the mid to late 1800s with at least one being included in every better class trousseau. This outstanding shawl measures 76 by 76 inches and is in excellent condition, with no holes or repairs and is museum quality! It lays flat without any puckering and has been expertly made. This is an extraordinary and rare piece of signed paisley textile art!
